Project abstract
3D SCO is a versatile tool for seismic data interpolation. Actually, pre-stack data interpolation is always an attractive issue for the potential related acquisition cost reductions: during the acquisition stage, obstructions, cable feathering, economic constraints and many other factors that cause seismic data to be sampled in sparse and irregular fashion. This introduces noise/artifacts that can limit the resolution of the final image.
3D SCO (Shot Continuation Operator) seismic data interpolation can improve the quality of the seismic processing as it leads to dense/regular surveys without increasing the acquisition costs. This data Continuation algorithm is a pre-stack model-driven operator that interpolates irregularly sampled prestack data, by transforming the geometry of the seismic traces. The aim of the project is the development of a seismic interpolation software tool, targeted to linux cluster environments. The main deliverable of the project is based on the development of the software tool that has been completed and delivered to the final user. The updating to the new areas of research has been completed for all those parts that were agreed with the main customer.

Project results
The main result of the research has been a software program for seismic interpolation based on the concept of prestack data continuation (the so called 3D-SCO) application to be used under Linux. The stand-alone 3D-SCO is currently used in ENI for the prestack processing with excellent final results in term of cost reduction for the 3D acquisitions and the final quality of the (pre-stack and post-stack) imaging.
