I am Dr. Mahnaz Asgharpour, a dedicated researcher with a diverse background in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in bioelectric, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Control and Systems Design. Additionally, I was awarded a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering by Iran's Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, in recognition of my research and publications. With extensive experience as an adjunct professor, I have taught various courses across different universities, including Circuit and Systems Theory, Differential Equations, and Linear Control Systems. My teaching career is driven by a passion for fostering the next generation of engineers and researchers. I have had the privilege of undertaking two postdoctoral fellowships—one at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and another at the Italian Institute of Technology. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research fellow at Politecnico di Milano, where I am developing mathematical models to study the effects of cerebellar transcranial magnetic stimulation for rescuing motor deficits in Spinocerebellar Ataxia. My primary research focus is on applying nonlinear systems theory to the development of neuromodulation systems. I have explored the use of neuroscience, neural engineering, neuromorphic engineering, and machine learning techniques to devise innovative control and treatment strategies for neurological disorders. My work aims to push the frontiers of medical technology, improving the quality of life for individuals with neurological conditions. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, engineers, clinicians, and industry partners, to advance the state-of-the-art in medical devices, diagnostics, and therapies.
My contributions to the field are well-recognized, as evidenced by numerous publications and presentations shared with the scientific community and the public. I am passionate about leveraging my extensive knowledge and creativity to make meaningful contributions to biomedical engineering, neuromorphic engineering, and AI. My ultimate goal is to positively impact society and the environment through my innovative research and academic endeavors.
