Best student paper award at the international conference "Symposia on VLSI technology and circuits"
2020 - BIANCHI STEFANO, MUÑOZ MARTÍN IRENE
Stefano Bianchi and Irene Muñoz Martín, research assistants at DEIB, received the best student paper award at the international conference "Symposia on VLSI technology and circuits", Honolulu, USA, July 2020. This important prize was awarded for the presentation and experimental demonstration of the work entitled "Energy-efficient continual learning in hybrid supervised-unsupervised neural networks with PCM synapses" during the 2019 VLSI symposia in Kyoto, Japan.
The VLSI Symposia is one of the most prominent international conferences on the semiconductor technology and circuits. The conference offers significant visibility to interact and synergize on topics spanning the range from process technology to system-on-chip for advanced computing. The presented work aims at proposing innovative breakthroughs in the field of artificial intelligence merging the benefits of deep neural networks with the benefits of bio-inspired spiking neural networks.
