Serena Fiocchi received the Master degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2009 from the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. In 2013, she received the Ph.D in Bioengineering and the European Doctorate certification from the Department of Bioengineering of Polytechnic of Milan.
From 2013 to 2018 she was post-doc research fellow at the Institute of Electronics, Computer and Telecommunication Engineering (IEIIT) of National Research Council (CNR) of Italy.
From April 2018 she has a permanent position as Research Scientist at the same institute.
Her scientific interests cover the study of the interactions between electromagnetic fields EMF and human health, with the goal of expanding the scientific and technological basis of safe and beneficial applications of EMF. In particular, her primary research interests include the EMF exposure assessment by both deterministic e stochastic dosimetry, the design and the optimization by computational electromagnetic techniques of biomedical technologies based on EMF for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
She is actually involved in the following international projects:
- EU H2020 Project “CUPIDO - Cardio Ultraefficient nanoParticles for Inhalation of Drug prOducts” (2017-2021).
- ANSES Project “AMPERE - Advanced MapPing for the residential ExposuRE to RF- EMF sources”(2016-2020).
- ANSES Project “ELFSTAT - New statistical methods to assess the exposure of children to ELF (50-800 Hz) magnetic field” (2015 – 2018)
- FP7 EC Project “GERONIMO - Generalized EMF research using novel methods. An integrated approach: from research to risk assessment and support to risk management” (2014-2018).
Her scientific research results in a vast publishing activity, which includes more than 30 papers on international peer-reviewed journals (Scopus H-index 8, Apr 2018).
