GOMEZ MUNOZ SERGI
Dottorando di Ricerca in Bioingegneria
My scientific journey started with my bachelor's degree in Biosystems Engineering, at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). During that time, I learned not only the basis of the engineering itself, but also the multiple possibilities that molecular biology allows and that I could discover. Afterwards, I did my M.Sc. in Advanced Biotechnology, within the specialization of Molecular and Therapeutic Biotechnology, at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Here, I could do my internship at Institut Germans Tries i Pujol (IGTP) working with ovarian cancer samples in order to generate 3D cultures (organoids) for drug screening. Also, I could be involved in some computational analysis working with spatial transcriptomics data. Actually, I am involved in the Marie Curie MIRACLE project 11 which wants to focus on the development of an in vitro organ-on-chip (OoC) model of cardiac fibrosis. I am really excited to be part of this project, where I expect to have a solid knowledge of OoC technology as well as self-development as a scientist and a human being. Regarding my interests outside the lab, I really enjoy spending time with my friends, going on a one-day trip for hiking or staying at home watching some movies. I grew up in a town by the sea near Barcelona, so one of my preferred activities to do when I am there is snorkeling and scuba diving.
