Person identification based on the face image analysis is receiving a wide interest by industrial and public institutions for its low level of required user-machine interaction. On the contrary of the techniques based on the fingerprint or iris image acquisition the techniques based on face image analysis do not require a high level of user collaboration. It is sufficient to walk in front of one or more TV-cameras to be identified. At the same time, currently, recognition techniques based on face images analysis have a lower reliability regarding finger-print and iris based approaches. Research project is oriented to the detailed study of the more recent face recognition techniques present in the literature and to the development of an approach that jointly uses several metrics for face image matching.
