Project abstract
TETYS - Topics Evolution That You See proposes a next generation open-source Web topic explorer, inspecting a big textual corpus and projecting results on a dashboard of topic trends with easy-to-drive statistical testing. TETYS aims to provide improved access to technical and general text (scientific papers, e-commerce reviews, public engagement threads, etc.) to quickly grasp their temporal trends.
TETYS is composed of a pipeline for ingesting huge data corpora, extracting highly relevant topics, clustered along orthogonal dimensions; and an interactive dashboard, supporting topic visualization as word clouds and exploration of temporal series. TETYS involves the use of data-driven statistical/visualization-based strategies for making Web users 1) aware of the semantic content of analyzed datasets; 2) understand temporal evolution of the topics.
The first CORToViz prototype explores the CORD-19 dataset (of COVID-19 research abstracts). The project aims to consolidate the product showcasing the TETYS approach: 1) making the pipeline applicable to any corpus of Web textual documents; 2) validating the dashboard experience with solid and broad user studies. Then, a pilot working on other domains of interest for Web users (e.g., climate change and controversial debates on social media) will be built. All the projects' deliverables will be produced as open-source contributions to the community, complying with the guidelines of the NGI Search program within the Next Generation Internet Initiative.
