The ASC4B project aims to develop an intelligent electronic suspension management system that consists of a small device to be installed on a bicycle that, connected to the electronic suspension, modifies its behavior so as to guarantee the best comfort and performance in any condition and on any type of terrain, with a direct impact on the comfort and safety of the cyclist.
The heart of the device is the algorithm that analyzes different types of vehicle dynamics, adapting the characteristics of the suspensions in order to guarantee their optimal behavior on different types of terrain. This objective is enabled by an advanced sensor system implemented in the device that will be available for both OEM and "after sales" mode.
The system adapts the behavior of the suspension, recognizing in real time the maneuvers performed by the cyclist. This adaptation can be automatic for non-expert riders or manual for expert cyclists. In addition, for the more expert cyclists, an application will be developed in the project on a mobile device (typically Smartphone and tablet) able to customize some parameters of the suspension algorithm in order to make the system as personalized as possible and adherent to the needs of the user.
The project therefore involves:
- a product and hardware innovation related to the development of the electronic and sensing device
- a service innovation since the device and in particular the developed algorithm enables an improvement of the experience of using the bicycles, improving the "driving pleasure" and the safety of the same.
ASC4B is funded by POR FESR 2014-2020 (Smart Fashion & Design call).
