Dr. Mendez's research focuses on the integration and analysis of biomedical signals, data classification and representation, and the interpretation and visualization of information for the development of decision support systems, particularly in the context of sleep phenomena. He has extensive experience with signals from EEG, ECG, EOG, EMG, and respiration related to sleep analysis. His work also extends to emotion recognition in patients with schizophrenia and the development of methods for automatic visual field reconstruction. Dr. Mendez has organized numerous national and international events in the field of biomedical engineering. He has contributed to European projects such as myHeart and HeartCycle, and has managed federal research funds in Mexico. At the UASLP, Dr. Mendez created the undergraduate programs in Biomedical Engineering and Biology and served as coordinator of the undergraduate program in Biomedical Engineering.
He also founded the Scientific Computing Unit at the National Center for Research in Medical Imaging and Instrumentation (CI3M) in San Luis Potosi.
