The team of Prof. Luciano Baresi (Politecnico di Milano, Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering), which includes PhD student Chiara Criscuolo and research assistant Giovanni Quattrocchi, is in Mozambique to offer students, researchers and professors of the Eduardo Mondlane University of Maputo high-level training in the field of ICT.
The initiative is part of the ICT4DEV project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. ICT4DEV responds to the training and skill building needs in a rapidly evolving sector such as ICT and supports the development of ICT applications in the areas with the greatest impact for the social and economic development of Mozambique.
The sustainable development goals will be pursued through the training of ICT specialists and support for the creation of a cultural environment that enhances the use of ICT. In addition to offering theoretical and practical training courses, the project aims to support the birth and development of an entrepreneurial culture in the ICT sector, with particular attention to overcoming the gender gap, and to contribute to the development of a network for sharing scientific and technological knowledge with other research centres in Italy, Africa and other countries, in order to create stable collaborations and fruitful synergies.
