The HocLab research group, coordinated by Prof. Nicoletta Di Blas, took part in the 3rd international workshop HELMeTO (Higher Education Learning Methodologies and Technologies) which took place on September 9th and 10th, 2021.
During the event, the peer-reviewed paper "Flipped Classroom and Educational Videos: Instant Student Feedback" by Vera Calchi, Nicoletta Di Blas and Aldo Torrebruno won the HELMeTO 2021 Award “Technologies Track”.
The subject of the paper is Evoli, a tool developed in the frame of the European Erasmus project ELSE by researchers from HocLab at Politecnico di Milano and then officially adopted by the University. The tool allows teachers to upload video lessons online and to collect feedbacks from students in real time. Students can “tag” the videos with time-stamped reactions on what they understand/not understand; in addition, it allows adding comments or questions. The instructor is provided with a dashboard where the aggregate reactions are shown, allowing her to better plan the synchronous sessions, knowing what topics/concepts were so clear that they do not need revision vs. those so unclear that they need explanation.
