BACK-OP is a project launched within the framework of the Convergence Regions Funding by the MIUR, with the objective of achieving an in-field demonstration of an optical back-panel for telecommunication apparatus. Developments in the transmission rate as well as in the number of interconnections, now make optical technology a mature and elective technology for interconnection at board-to-boards level. BACK-OP is focused on realizing an optical back-panel demonstrator with advantages in terms of bandwidth and energy saving.
