He received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 1971. From 1973 to 1979 he collaborated with the Italian National Research Council (CNR) where he worked primarily in the field of computer communications. In 1979 he an became Associate Professor of Theory of Stochastic Processes at the Electronic Department of the Politecnico di Milano and since 1990 he has been Full Professor of Electrical Communications at the Politecnico di Milano. His current interests include cellular wireless networks, metropolitan and wide area networks, ATM networks, multiple access, queuing systems and performance evaluation.
