Born in Manerbio, Italy, in 1968. MSc in Electrical Engineering (Politecnico di Milano - 1992), PhD in Systems and Control Engineering (Politecnico di Milano – 1997), MSc in Applied Mathematics (Università Cattolica – 2002). After receiving the Phd he worked for some years for McKinsey&Co, Milan Office. Full Professor in Automatic Control since 2006. He has been visiting scholar at Lund University, Sweden, University of Twente, The Netherlans, Canberra National University, Australia, Minnesota University at Minneapolis, USA, Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria. Associate Editor of the European Journal of Control, of the IET (formerly IEE) Journal on Control Theory & Applications, and of the IEEE Control Systems Society Conference Editorial Board. He has been in the International Program Committee of many International Conferences. His main research interests are in the areas of vehicles control, automotive systems, data analysis and modeling, non-linear control, and industrial control applications. He is author of about 150 scientific international papers, and 5 patents. He has been managing more than 20 R&D projects of product innovation through electronic-control in cooperation with industrial companies (Aprilia, Piaggio, Ducati, Ferrari, FIAT, Brembo, Same-Deutz-Fahr, ST-Microelectronics, Indesit Company, etc.). He is the Director of a Master program on “ICT&Design” jointly developed by the Politecnico di Milano and the Nanyang Business School, Singapore. He has been the proponent and co-Director of international research programs: “SAFEBIKE” (EU project in cooperation with JKU-Linz and Gyor University), “smart-tires” (Italy-Austria joint research program), and “Advanced Signal Processing for Automotive Applications” (project sponsored by the City University of Hong Kong). He has been the Advisor of 6 PhD Students.
