CAMARDA MANUEL
Dottorando di Ricerca in Ingegneria dell'Informazione
Manuel Camarda was born in 1999. He received the Master of Science degree in Automation and Control Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan in 2024, with grade 110/110. His master’s thesis proposed an innovative hybrid train, equipped with hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries, designed to operate both in electrified and catenary-free scenarios. Against existing railway solutions, his research, featuring a new Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategy for optimizing energy management, demonstrated significant reductions in energy losses, improved efficiency, flexibility and enhanced environmental sustainability. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in Information Technology, extending his work to control multiple hybrid trains operating on the same railway network in a collaborative way.
