Sommario
On March 18th, 2025 at 12.00 pm Luca Gambarotto, PHD Student in Information Technology, will hold a seminar on "Eyes on the Road: Vision-Based AR Algorithms for In-Vehicle Applications" at DEIB Conference Room "Emilio Gatti" (Building 20).
Accurate head pose estimation is a key enabler for robust in-vehicle Augmented Reality. This seminar presents vision-based algorithms for localization and tracking using Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) in dynamic automotive environments. It introduces a custom-designed HMD system and a sensor fusion framework for reliable tracking in non-inertial conditions. Markerless stereo and mono-camera approaches are explored, including adaptations of ICP and PnP algorithms that exploit 3D cockpit maps. The seminar highlights challenges such as occlusions and tracking loss, and presents solutions that integrate inertial data with real-time computer vision for immersive and stable AR experiences inside vehicles.
