SAR based methods for snow monitoring

Sommario
On December 4th, 2024 at 3.30 pm Francesco Salvaterra, PHD Student in Information Technology, will give a seminar on "SAR based methods for snow monitoring" in DEIB 3B Room (Building 20).
The seminar will cover SAR-based methods for estimating important parameters in snow packs. The characteristics of radar signal propagation in dry snow will be introduced, together with a review of state-of-the-art methods for snow water equivalent and snow depth estimation. The problematics of radar propagation in wet and refrozen snow will be then considered, presenting a method for detecting and mapping snowmelt area.
