Sommario
On December 14th, 2023 at 9.00 am Riccardo Cavadini, PHD Student in Information Technology, will give a seminar on "High Performance Computing: A Journey into the Future" in DEIB Meeting Room (Building 22).
High Performance Computing (HPC) stands as a fundamental pillar in modern computing, utilizing parallel processing and advanced algorithms to push computational capabilities beyond conventional boundaries.
Supercomputers continually achieve unprecedented computational power, as indicated by escalating FLOPS values. However, this progress also has some challenges.
The rising energy demand and the environmental impact of HPC centers necessitate a delicate balance between performance and sustainability. Consequently, ongoing research explores optimization strategies and novel architectures.
This seminar delves into the dynamic landscape of HPC infrastructures, elucidating their strengths and limitations. The presentation will emphasize sustainable management strategies, processor architectures, and emerging trends. In particular, the focus will span parallel computing, power management, and the pivotal roles of RISC-V and quantum computing.
