Sommario
On November 10th, 2023 at 2.30 pm Samuli Honkapuro, Professor at LUT University - Finland, will give a seminar on "Nordic perspectives on energy transition" in DEIB Seminar Room "Nicola Schiavoni" (Building 20).
Replacing fossil fuel with carbon neutral electricity, aka electrification, is the lowest cost solution towards sustainable society, a necessity in a fight against climate change. Finland, among other Nordic countries, has abundant renewable energy resources, and active forest industry, providing bio-based carbon to be used as a raw material for synthetic hydrocarbons, such as e-methanol. Hence, Nordic countries are the forerunners in the transition towards sustainable electrified society. LUT University, although being rather small (about 6 600 students), is recognized to be a key academic player in energy sector research and education in Finland. In this speak, I will provide insights about past, present, and future of the Finnish energy sector, and the role of LUT University in energy sector transition. There will be opportunities for informal discussions and networking.
