ENFIELD will establish a unique European Centre of Excellence focused on Adaptive, Green, Human-Centric, and Trustworthy AI. These scientific pillars are strategic, innovative, and essential for the successful development, deployment, and acceptance of AI in Europe. By attracting top talent, cutting-edge technologies, and key industry players, ENFIELD will drive advanced research in healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and space. It will align research efforts with industry challenges to strengthen Europe’s competitive position in AI and create significant socio-economic benefits for European citizens and businesses.
To achieve this, ENFIELD will build and sustain a dynamic European AI network, bringing together 30 consortium members from 18 countries. This network includes leading academic institutions, large enterprises, SMEs, and public sector representatives, all working together to tackle critical AI research and innovation challenges.
ENFIELD’s impact will be substantial. It aims to deliver more than 75 unique AI solutions, including algorithms, methods, simulations, services, datasets, and prototypes, while also producing 180 high-impact scientific publications and 200 peer-reviewed presentations. In addition, ENFIELD will develop key strategic documents, such as the Common Research Roadmap and Vision, the Dynamic Safety and Security Risk Assessment Framework, the White Paper, and the Gender and Ethics Framework.
To foster knowledge exchange and innovation, ENFIELD will launch Open Calls that provide financial support to over 76 individual researchers and 18 small-scale projects. Education and training initiatives, such as summer schools and hackathons, will complement these efforts, ensuring a continuous flow of expertise and engagement. A set of well-designed outreach activities will further contribute to strengthening and expanding the ENFIELD community, securing its long-term impact and sustainability.
