Monica Vitali is Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering (DEIB) of Politecnico di Milano, where she holds a PhD in Information Technology (2014).
Her research focuses on the evaluation and management of energy efficiency and quality of service in information systems. Her work investigates new strategies to improve the efficiency of data centers, cloud and fog computing by applying techniques derived from the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning. In particular, she has worked on energy efficiency and sustainability of cloud and fog applications, QoS-based distribution in edge and fog computing, data quality in big data environments, Ambient Assisted Living, Smart Cities and Smart Buildings.
Monica teaches courses in Information Systems (since 2015) and Fundamentals of Computer Science at Politecnico di Milano at the undergraduate level for the degrees in Computer Science and Management Engineering. In 2019 she was Associate Professor at Umeå University (Sweden) teaching Cloud Computing and Advanced Distributed Systems at the Master's level of the Computer Science degree.
In 2012 she received the Roberto Rocca Fellowship to finance 6 months as a visiting Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
Participation in European research projects: TEADAL, CSAWARENEXT, CROWD4DSDG, DITAS, BigSEA, Eco2Clouds, GAMES, HUMANOBS.
