Simone Vesentini has a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (1999) and has obtained a PhD degree in Bioengineering in 2004 on the molecular modelling of tendon structural proteins as collagen and proteoglycans. In 2005 he received the award "Gruppo Nazionale di Bioingegneria, Patron" for the best PhD's thesis in Biomedical Engineering. At present, he works at the Computational Biomechanics Laboratory as research fellow. He is involved in one STREP European Project for the modelization of bioartificial membrane. His research interests include soft tissue modelling and biomolecular modelling. Concerning biomolecular modelling he is working on substructural tendon mechanics by means of a fibril-to-fibril interaction model and on the study of alpha-actinin unfolding by means of molecular dynamics approach. He is the author of about 10 peer reviewed international papers in the field of biomechanics and nanobiomechanics. He is the local coordinator of one mobility grant with Laval University of Quebec.
