Riccardo Scattolini was born in Milano, Italy, in 1956. He received the "Laurea" degree in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano. Since 1982 he has held various research positions at the University of Pavia and at the Politecnico di Milano, where he presently is Full Professor. He also spent one year working in industry on the simulation and control of chemical plants and many periods as a visiting researcher at the Department of Engineering Science, Oxford University. His current research interests concern modeling, simulation, identification, control and diagnosis of industrial processes. In 1991 he was awarded the Heaviside Premium of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. He has been a member of the IFAC Technical Committee on Automotive Control and of many program committees of national and international conferences.
