SHAVICK ALEX MATTHEW
PHD Student

Research areas:
  • Computer Science and Engineering
Graduating from Oxford with an intercalated medical degree in 2018, I was keen to pursue a career in histopathology and have been training as a clinical pathologist since 2020 in the West of Scotland. The unique perspective of cancer diagnosis and treatment in clinical pathology lends itself well to academic research. To this end I obtained a pre-doctoral research bursary at University College London in 2021, and have started a PhD in Data Analytics and Decision Sciences at Politecnico di Milano in 2025. My aim is to investigate diagnosis, prognostication and disease biology using digital pathology and spatial transcriptomics under the supervision of Dr Craig Glastonbury at Human Technopole, Milan and Dr Adam Levine at UCLH, London. My research will focus on myeloma, a malignant condition of the bone marrow.
