Pietro Cerveri, MSc in Electronics Engineering (1994) and PhD in Bioengineering (2001), is Full Professor of Bioengineering at Università di Pavia and holds a joint research appointment at the Politecnico di Milano–EssilorLuxottica Smart Eyewear Lab. He is responsible of the “Technologies and Intelligence for Health” (TIH) Lab and Director of the II-level Clinical Engineering Master at University of Pavia. He lectures Biomedical Instrumentation and Neuroengineering courses. His research spans AI-based biomedical image and signal processing and analysis, wearable biosensor technologies, and computational modeling, resulting in over 150 scientific journal papers, and several patents. His past positions include research fellowships at the European Institute of Oncology, and National Center of Oncology Hadron Therapy (CNAO). In CNAO, he was leading robotic imaging developments for enhancing patient positioning. He has been participating in multiple EU international and national, scientific and R&D projects, on robotics, medical imaging, biosignals processing including ROBOCAST (2008 EU-FP7), 4D C.A.P.H. (2012 CNAO), FAIR (2023 Italian PNRR), Smart Eyewear (2023, Essilo-Luxottica), SMASH-HCM (2024 Horizon Europe), Exit-CVD (2025 Horizon Europe). He was awarded for innovation projects by Kilometro Rosso (2008 Innovation District Bergamo), Seed4Innovation (2022 Università di Milano), and Switch2Product (2023 Politecnico di Milano). Current collaborations with Houston Methodist and MD Anderson (TX, USA) focus on agent-based tumor modeling and deep-learning-based multi-photon image analysis, and with Essilor-Luxottica in the field of wearable biosensors.
