Holguer Noriega completed his bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Automation Engineering at ESPOL University in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He got his mater degree in Electrical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano with a Scholarship from the Ecuadorian government in 2020. Since November 2022, he is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering at DEIB department under the supervision of Professor Luigi Piegari. His research is focusing on the design and development of innovative hybrid energy storage systems (HESS).
The focus of his research may fall on the following specific topics: the design of a tool for the optimal design of a hybrid storage system considering the required services, the modelling of power intensive storage and energy intensive storage, the modelling and design of high efficiency power electronic converters to integrate the storage in the grid, and the design of optimal management strategies to exploit storage capabilities providing the ancillary services required by the grid.
