Giacomo Cassano, a student in the PhD programme in Information Technology and member of the HOC-LAB, has won the 2023 edition of the “Prof. Florian Daniel” degree award.
His master’s thesis, titled “EVOLI Sync. A video-annotation tool to support the live lesson”, was written under the supervision of Prof. Nicoletta Di Blas from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano and presented the development of a tool to support aggregated and real-time feedback from students to the lecturer, regarding the clarity of explanations and the presence of doubts and questions, during the “hybrid lectures” – partly online, partly in presence – introduced during the pandemic.
The work, which included an experimental part in a real-world context, was published at a major conference in the field of educational technology and was at the basis of Cassano's doctoral project.
