The AIRLab team of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano, made up of three students of the master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering and the PhD student in Information Engineering Eugenio Lomurno, won third place in GenHack 2, the hackathon for generative modelling organized by the École Polytechnique in collaboration with the international organization Mercator Ocean International and with the credit institution BNP Paribas.
The challenge, which was attended by 64 teams and more than 300 students from all over the world, consisted in developing a generative model capable of studying the evolution of ocean temperature over the years in the context of climate change, based on real data supplied by Mercator Ocean.
