The Politecnico di Milano team, made up of students Marco Venere and Giuseppe Sorrentino, won the first prize in the PYNQ category at the Xilinx Open Hardware Competition.

The competition, now in its eighth edition, gives every year the students of European universities the opportunity to showcase their technical and creative skills with projects exploiting the technology of the US company famous for developing the first commercially viable FPGA.

This is the sixth time that a team from the Politecnico di Milano has won one of the prizes offered by Xilinx for the Open Hardware Competition. This year’s winning project, which makes the recording of 3D images faster and more efficient with important applications in the field of surgery, was developed under the supervision of Prof. Marco Santambrogio of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering with the collaboration of research assistant Davide Conficconi as tutor.
