The uncertainty assessment method presented by Prof. Alessandro Ferrero from the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria del Politecnico di Milano in a 2016 article has been considered and prescribed in the recent EN standard 17057:2021 “Road Vehicles — Portable Emission Measuring Systems (PEMS) — Performance Assessment”.
The document defines the procedures for assessing the performance of test equipment that is used for the on-road measurement of tailpipe emissions of light-duty vehicles, on the basis of a common test procedure that simulates the range of conditions experienced during on-road tests.
The article, titled “Covariance Evaluation by Means of Uncertainty Assessment”, was published on the scientific journal IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Magazine.
