On April 15-19, 2024 the experimentation of the Magic Climbing space, the first multi-sensory smart environment in the world to integrate a sensorised climbing wall, took place at the Politecnico di Milano Lecco Campus.

This new interactive space, designed by Prof. Alessandro Colombo and Prof. Franca Garzotto from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering, offers an immersive experience through lights, projections, music, sounds and materials that allow typical children as well as children with disabilities to interact with physical objects and multimedia content.

The room is equipped with a sensorised climbing wall and an interactive floor, which, connected to each other, provide researchers with data on the movement and logical abilities of the participants in the proposed games.

Magic Climbing is part of the ActivE³ – Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday project, coordinated by Prof. Manuela Galli from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering and Prof. Emanuele Lettieri from the Department of Management Engineering, Politecnico di Milano. The project, funded by Fondazione Cariplo and Regione Lombardia, aims to create a technological platform for motor inclusion in schools.

Tests will continue on May with the direct involvement of 400 pupils from the Santo Stefano and G. Oberdan primary schools in Lecco.
