Abstract

On October 1st, 2025 at 5.00 pm Viviana Desantis, PHD Student in Information Technology, will hold a seminar on "Integrating AI and 3D Scanning for Early Detection of Oral Pathologies" at DEIB Beta Room (Building 24).

The aim of this work is to develop a clinical decision support system based on artificial intelligence, capable of processing clinical photographs and intraoral 3D scans through advanced image processing and pattern recognition techniques for the automated analysis of oral lesions. The acquired data (images, clinical descriptions, and histopathological reports) are integrated and processed by multimodal models such as LLaVA-Med, trained to recognize pathological patterns and suggest diagnoses and possible lesion progressions. This results in an innovative engineering tool for early diagnosis and treatment planning, with continuous improvements in 3D scanning and acquisition methods.
